The Council consulted on the Preferred Strategy for the Replacement LDP in 2023. The next stage in preparation of the plan is the Deposit Plan which is the full draft version of the plan.
Welsh Government guidance relating to the preparation of LDPs requires them to be founded on a robust and up to date evidence base and for the plan to be informed by various assessments. Given this, it is important that the Deposit Plan is informed by the latest evidence and the various assessments are completed and fully considered. This requirement is also a “test of soundness” which will be considered by an appointed Inspector during the independent examination of the plan.
To allow sufficient time to fully consider these matters, the Deposit Plan will now be considered by Cabinet and Council in January 2025, with consultation likely to be in the early 2025. The proposed dates for the revised timetable are set out below:
- Consultation on Deposit Plan – February to April 2025
- Examination – September 2025 to March 2026
- Adoption – April 2026
